Leah met her husband Kyle on her first day of college, September 4, 2007, at Brigham Young University.  After a two-year-long friendship and seven months of long-distance dating, Kyle and Leah were engaged on June 15- actually at 8:00 a.m., right in the middle of the Avenía Boutique!

Kyle and Leah were married on September 4, 2010 in the beautiful Mesa, Arizona Temple, exactly three years from the day they met in English class!  Their beautiful ring ceremony and reception took place at Windstar Gardens in Peoria, AZ.

“I knew I wanted a dress from Avenía the minute I met Nancy. Honestly, her knowledge, talent and expertise is beyond impressive,” said Leah.

Leah originally met Nancy Barrus her sophomore year at BYU and quickly became a talented and wonderful addition to the Avenía team as a consultant.  It was then that Leah knew Avenía was the place she would find her gown.

“My parents came up from Arizona to pick out a gown with me at Avenía, and that was one of the neatest experiences. My grandfather’s gift to me was to buy my wedding dress, but due to medical issues, he was unable to fly down and watch me pick it out. We hooked up Skype to a computer, and I modeled the gowns for my parents and grandparents though video chat. What a special day!” said Leah.

Leah’s Gown: Fifi by Badgley Mischka

Leah’s designer gown, Fifi, is a fit-to-flare, silk-organza gown, designed originally to be worn strapless.  As a personal preference, Leah needed the gown to be built up with sleeves and shoulders for her Temple Marriage.

“I wasn’t worried in the least bit about the buildup because I have worked with Nancy enough and seen her work before. It was such a relief to work with a talented designer and trusted company,” said Leah.

Nancy Barrus and our in-house design studio completed all the customizations on Leah’s gown, keeping the overall look of the gown in tact, including the romantic, sweetheart neckline on Leah’s tailored bodice.

Introducing Catherine by Lis Simon

Anyone can see the beauty of wedding gowns by our newest designer, Lis Simon, with the previous arrivals of Constance, Charlize and Cassandra.  Now we are pleased to introduce Cathrine, a classic design by Lis Simon now available for our brides.  Catherine is a simply elegant, lace a-line gown with beaded embellishments.  Catherine’s delicate, off-the-shoulder straps are embellished with eyelash lace detailing, creating a romantic neckline that continues around to the back.  A scooped, open back and chapel train add to Catherine’s grace and charm.  This gown is for the truly classic, elegant bride.

We are excited to announce Cassandra by designer Lis Simon has recently arrived at our boutique!  Cassandra is exquisite- an instant classic for our brides.  Designed with a ruched, organza drop-waist bodice, Cassandra is effortlessly figure-flattering and gives a slimming silhouette.  Asymmetrical lines create fluid movement throughout the gown, beginning with the beaded, lace embellishments and running down through the light and airy, organza skirt.

Avenía recently participated in a $100K Dream Wedding Give Away at last July’s La Caille Bridal Extravaganza.  Connie and Thomas, the lucky winners are enthusiastically planning their wedding and sharing the details.

After winning the exciting giveaway, Bride Connie came to Avenía Bridal to find her perfect gown and shares her experience:

“I called Avenia Bridal and went to their store in Provo to do some dress shopping. It was their last day in their Provo location, as they now have a new location in Orem at 228 E. University Parkway, Orem, UT 84097. I met with their owner Lisa Powelson and their designer Nancy Barrus.  Lisa helped me pick out some dresses, and Nancy helped me to try on the dresses. They had a big selection and all different styles of dresses to choose from.

They also have a wide range of bridal accessories including floral designs, shoes, jewelry, jeweled headbands, tiaras, feathered pieces, birdcage veils and blushers for the complete all in one store! I fell in love with the second dress I tried on, I couldn’t believe it! I was so excited and tried on heels, jewelry and veils too. My mother in law to be had so much fun and it was a completely different experience from the other [previously visited] bridal store. Nancy actually cared about my wedding dress shopping experience and wanted everything to be perfect.

We ended up ordering that second dress I tried on (I cannot explain what it looks like nor post a photo because my fiance is not allowed to see it until my wedding day!) My dress will arrive mid April and I cannot wait!”
