Real Bride: Ansley

Saturday, 17. December 2011 15:55

Gorgeous Ansley had this beautiful custom gown built for her! We’ll let the pictures do the talking!!

Ansley

Here are some questions that Ansley answered for us.
-What is your husband’s name and how did you meet?  My husband’s name is Jordan and we met at BYU. He was my brother’s roommate at the Jerusalem Center and when he got home from the study abroad we went on a blind date.

-How did you choose your gown? I spend a lot of time looking at dress all over Utah, but never found one that I was in love with. I saw a dress that I thought was pretty and decided that I would probably just buy that one. My last appointment of the day was with Nancy and I started telling her all the things I love in a dress. In no time she sketched a beautiful gown that was exactly what I was looking for. There was no way I could settle for another dress after that. We continued to make small adjustments to the design and it became the dress of my dreams!

Ansley

Avenia made the whole experience of getting a wedding gown so exciting. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and helpful. I had a lot of fittings for my dress and it was fun going to the shop because I felt so comfortable there and the atmosphere is perfect.

Ansley

-When and where were you married?  We were married at the Salt Lake Temple on August 19th and had a dinner reception that evening at Mill Creek Inn.

-How did you feel on your wedding day?  My husband and I both thought our wedding day was absolutely perfect. There was no stress or worries, just excitement and enjoy.

Real Bride: Lindsay

Friday, 9. December 2011 12:20

Lindsay and Travis-Their love story.
“My husbands name is Travis Helm. We met while at school (BYU-Idaho) in Rexburg. We had been in the same ward for a while at church, but never noticed each other. At the end of last summer (2010) I vaguely remember seeing him, with another girl…and he had a horrible mustache. I honestly didn’t give him a second look. When fall started, I taught Sunday School at church and he happened to be in my class. He asked around for my number so he could “thank me for my lesson.”  He texted me a few times and I replied without interest. I thought of him as the mustache guy. Anyway, I had no idea that we had mutual friends, and soon we were seeing each other quite often. Travis and his roommate would invite me and my roommates over for dinner or to do fun stuff. I went once or twice but I had other things going on too. Eventually we did actually hang out for the whole night with a group of friends. That night he asked me out on a date. For our first date we had a food fight. That was the way to my heart, because the rest is history!”

Lindsay

“My story about finding Avenia is really funny actually. My mom came down from Washington to help me find my dress. I decided I wanted to go to Utah and make a weekend out of it! I looked up some places online and programmed the addresses into the GPS…with no luck. Our GPS was taking us all over the place! Finally we pulled over into a parking lot to redirect ourselves. Right when we parked, I looked up and saw Avenia. We decided to go take a look. I walked in the doors and I was taken back at how elegant it was! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and most importantly, patient  consultants! I know that bridal shops usually have dozens of girls coming in every day. I’m sure it can get overwhelming. But we were treated like we were the first and only ones there. I didn’t feel rushed or awkward or anything! It was a great experience. The girls there are great!”

Lindsay

“Avenia has so many beautiful dresses it was difficult to pick! But luckily the consultants made it so much easier. They started off by asking our budget. We started there. I only picked out dresses I knew we could afford. Then I had to decide…do I want to do the traditional poofy white gown? do I want something more modern? or do I want something timeless? I tried on a few traditional white poofy downs, but there was one that caught my eye. It was cream colored with a hint of blush pink. The two layers of lace made it even more elegant. The umpire waist was made entirely of small, delicate, beads. The second layer of lace was scalloped  at the bottom. It was perfect, timeless, unique. But most of all it was me! I hesitated at first because I felt somewhat obligated to have a white poofy one (as I call them :) but then I realized that it was ok to be unique!”

Lindsay

“We were married in the Columbia River Washington LDS Temple. That same day, we had a small ring ceremony in my Grandparent’s back yard, where I grew up. Our reception was held at the Richland Community Center which was right on the Columbia River. We had it in the Riverview room which had windows that went from the ceiling to the floor. It was gorgeous! And it wasn’t very expensive either. I would recommend looking into a local community center for any wedding reception. Usually, at community centers, you can bring your own food, DJ (or sound equipment), and you only rent it as long as you need it. When I was looking into places for the reception, they were charging at least $1,500 dollars and we would have to use their catering services. Then they would require that we spend at least $3,000-$4,000 dollars on food. It was ridiculous. We rented the community center for $500 dollars and were able to bring our own food and just hook up my itunes to some speakers. It was great!
How did I feel on my wedding day? Hm. I felt, happy, excited, beautiful, and most of the time I felt like shouting hurray! I was nervous up until Travis saw me for the first time. After that, it was awesome. I never wanted that day to end. It was the best day of my life. A few highlights of the wedding was when we were cutting the cake and when we came out of the temple. When we cut the cake we both looked at each other like “are you going to smash this in my face?” Then we pretended to be nice up until the last second when we smashed it all over each other. I know brides don’t want to get dirty on their wedding because they want to look beautiful, but we thought it would be better to show people our personalities and give them (and us) a good laugh! When we came out of the temple, our family was waiting there for us and they all started cheering! I couldn’t stop smiling. It felt so good to be surrounded by so much love! One more highlight,  the bridal party wore mustaches for some of our pictures. Soon enough, my whole family had them on!”

Lindsay

Thanks Lindsay, it sounds like you had a BLAST and that everything was perfect!
Congratulations!!
