The spectacular Rivini runway show was held at the historic Alvin Alley Dance theater.

Inspired by Giocanni Boldini’s painting “Scena Galante,” Rivini’s new collection portrays an ethereal feeling with a modern take.

We love Rita and her designs! The details in the gowns are always exquisite and the Fall 2012 collection was no exception.

In addition to the traditional ivory, the colors of fawn, elderberry and tea rose were introduced.  Fabulous!

We are so excited!! This weekend is the New York City Fall Bridal Market and our artistic director Nancy, along with one of our consultants, Ashley, fly out on Friday night to join the fun. They will be picking out new gowns to add to our collection, meeting new designers, going to fashion shows, buying fabric, and walking around in their high heels…a lot! The new collections are going to be amazing and we cannot wait!

The Spring 2011 Bridal Market in New York which took place this past April is proving to be an event full of color, texture, unique fabrics and exciting accessories.

Carlos Ramirez, designer for Liancarlo, created his Spring 2012 collection with a bit of a twist from his past designs.  Ramirez encompassed “romantic fairy tales and childhood dreams” as he used the modern day ballet Swan Lake as his main inspiration:

This figure flattering trumpet style gown is adorned with dramatic beading throughout the bodice which trickles down into yards of French tulle and silk organza, which is clipped to give the illusion of feathers.  A Swarovski and pearl encrusted sash accentuates her waist.

Ramirez’s use of fabric and detail in his complete collection evoke dreamlike emotion.  Here is a further glimpse of Liancarlo’s Spring 2012 collection:

The April 2011 New York Bridal Market showed the romance of Rivini’s latest collection, inspired by Spring in Central Park. Soft beading, delicate sparkle and beautiful shades of ivory are present in each gown.  Silk basket weave tulles and alencon laces are some of the fabrics seen in this romantic collection for Spring 2012.

Summertime brings sunshine, warm evenings and beautiful, green scenery.  What a perfect time for a wedding!  We are loving the current wedding trends and fashions this season.

Bright colors are making a huge appearance this season. Summer and weddings are all about having fun which is why bright colors work perfectly. Also, on the opposite end of the color scale, darker muted colors are big right now too. These colors look faded by the sun which provides a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. This weekend the world was finally able to see the wedding gown chosen by Kate Middleton, and it was certainly fit for a princess!

The long-awaited moment was anything but disappointing as Kate Middleton revealed to the world her wedding gown on the steps of Westminster Abby before her marriage to Prince William.  Kate arrived in a breathtaking ivory and satin, v-neck wedding gown with lace long-sleeves and a regal 8-foot train.

Kate chose a fitted, sweetheart bodice, which complimented her figure beautifully.  The lace sleeves and subtle v neck-line gave a modern twist to the traditional full skirt and long train.  Her veil was simple yet proportional to her body and the rest of her wedding gown, with floral, hand-stitched lace trim.  Kate looked simply timeless!

We can’t exclude Kate’s sister Pippa from our fashion review as she looked stunning in a simple, white maid of honor dress- a turn from the tradition that only the bride is to wear white on her wedding day.

Pippa greeted Kate as she arrived at the red carpet entrance to Westminster Abbey in this short-sleeved, fitted, white dress featuring a swooped neckline and lace and button details that coordinated with Kate’s gown.   Both Kate and Pippa’s gowns were by designer Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. Exquisite!

We are pleased to congratulate designer Junko Yoshioka for winning the prestigious 2011 Designer of the Year award from Marymount University!

Avenía recently participated in a $100K Dream Wedding Give Away at last July’s La Caille Bridal Extravaganza.  Connie and Thomas, the lucky winners are enthusiastically planning their wedding and sharing the details.

After winning the exciting giveaway, Bride Connie came to Avenía Bridal to find her perfect gown and shares her experience:

“I called Avenia Bridal and went to their store in Provo to do some dress shopping. It was their last day in their Provo location, as they now have a new location in Orem at 228 E. University Parkway, Orem, UT 84097. I met with their owner Lisa Powelson and their designer Nancy Barrus.  Lisa helped me pick out some dresses, and Nancy helped me to try on the dresses. They had a big selection and all different styles of dresses to choose from.

They also have a wide range of bridal accessories including floral designs, shoes, jewelry, jeweled headbands, tiaras, feathered pieces, birdcage veils and blushers for the complete all in one store! I fell in love with the second dress I tried on, I couldn’t believe it! I was so excited and tried on heels, jewelry and veils too. My mother in law to be had so much fun and it was a completely different experience from the other [previously visited] bridal store. Nancy actually cared about my wedding dress shopping experience and wanted everything to be perfect.

We ended up ordering that second dress I tried on (I cannot explain what it looks like nor post a photo because my fiance is not allowed to see it until my wedding day!) My dress will arrive mid April and I cannot wait!”
