Whitney Merrifield, our very own Miss Utah, chose Nancy Barrus and her team to alter and customize two of her gowns for the Miss America Pageant. On her Talent gown (piano performance), they added nude sheer sleeves with swarovski crystals and silver cuffs to match the beautiful silk charmeuse variegated silver. Her Evening gown was customized to fit her form by adding a keyhole back and a new neckline, as well as adding a scalloped hem around the beading on the front slit of the gown. She was wonderful work with and the gowns turned out beautifully!

Whitney has been competing in preliminary rounds of the Miss America Pageant this week in Las Vegas. The culminating pageant will be held tomorrow night, Saturday, January 30th at 8PM EST on TLC.

In order to have the perfect gown that fits, flows, and feels just right, it is important to give your bridal boutique as much time as possible to order your gown. A typical order time for a fine wedding gown is 12-14 weeks. Anything less than that might require rush fees and less availability to fine tune any desired alterations. A new year means new gowns, new events, and new weddings! We are so excited for January; this month is full of bridal shows. Just two days ago, we were at the Grand America Hotel for The Bridal Extravaganza. What a great way to start the year off right! Here are some photos of the event:

Our visits to design house Rivini are always a highlight of Bridal Fashion Week. The runway show and presentation for the collection is always fabulous. The view of Manhattan is amazing from their penthouse suite.

The Spring 2010 collection was exquisite, truly reflecting all of the latest bridal trends, as well as classic silhouettes. From designer Rita Vinieris’s perspective, “the mood was light and airy with clouds of tulle and mystical overlays of tissue organza.”

Rivini’s signature embellishment was evident in every piece, from couture floral accents to delicate beadwork and embroidery. We also loved their stunning accessories.
